What’s in it for me?
The IPA is much more than just a social club. The IPA encourages professional and social links between serving and retired police officers, specials and police staff from around the world.

The Cambridgeshire branch of the IPA is one of the most active in the area. In recent years the branch has organised visits to Austria, Germany, Dublin, Malta, Spain and Italy.

The branch  hosts student officers from Europe as part of their internship training.

In 2017 branch members visited Friendship Weeks in Klagenfurt, Austria and Wolfsburg, Germany.  In September 2014 we held an international Friendship Week and welcomed 22 IPA members and their partners from Germany, Austria, Poland and Canada, show casing the ‘Best of British” hospitality, food and culture.

Throughout the year the branch organises regular events such as an evenings at Peterborough Dog track, vintage car racing at Mallory Park, bowling evenings, visits to the Ceremony of the Keys at the Tower of London as hosts of the Yeoman warders and monthly Sunday lunches.

As well as local events, you can take part in trips and events run by other branches all over the country and abroad.

Membership of the IPA includes your family too, so for pen friends or exchanges for the kids it’s ideal.

If you fancy a holiday somewhere exotic, the IPA owns holiday homes around the world from Sri Lanka to Stockholm. Visit the IPA Houses web site for more information. Also as a member you’ll be able to take advantage of hotel, travel and insurance deals.

There’s also a professional side to the IPA. Each year a series of seminars are given in English at Gimborn, Germany. Staying at Gimborn and attending the seminars is very inexpensive tor members of the British Section and you can apply to your local branch to help with the cost of getting to Gimborn.

Many members use the IPA for local contacts when travelling abroad. Branch members have made great use of this facility in Hong Kong, Australia, New Zealand, Canada and the USA. Simply fill in and e-mail off a travel form and see what the IPA at your destination can do for you.
